Paddles
Paddles finds himself feeling angry and upset when a bigger boat doesn't show kindness towards him. A good friend soon helps Paddles to work through his emotions. Paddles is left feeling happy and ready to race up and down the lake once again.
Three pages of educator notes around children's emotional competence have been included and can be found at the back of the book.
**Rather than telling a child 'You're Ok', we need to support them to find the language for their strong emotions. This can be achieved through verbally acknowledging the emotion they may be feeling. 'It looks like you are feeling sad'.**
I hope this story will help to 'normalise' emotions. Please remember it is important to feel the different emotions associated with life. We must always acknowledge and validate these.
